Getting to Jackson
By Air: The easiest way to get to Jackson is by flying into Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), which is just 15 minutes from downtown Jackson. This airport is well-connected with direct flights from major cities like Denver, Salt Lake City, Dallas, and Chicago. Jackson Hole Airport is one of the most scenic airports with the Grand Tetons in the background.
By Car: If you prefer a road trip, Jackson is accessible via US Highway 26/89/191. It’s about a 4.5-hour drive from Salt Lake City, Utah, and around 5 hours from Billings, Montana. The drive offers stunning views, especially if you come through the scenic Teton Pass. Last time we visited Jackson, Sam and I drove from Salt Lake City. The drive was beautiful, however since we had flown in from Pittsburgh and immediately hit the road, it was a very long travel day.
By Bus: For a more eco-friendly option, consider taking a bus. Companies like Salt Lake Express and Mountain States Express provide services to Jackson.

Fall (October to November): Fall is a fantastic time to visit for stunning foliage and a quieter, more relaxed vibe. The crisp air and changing leaves make it ideal for photography and scenic drives. Wildlife is active as animals prepare for winter, providing great opportunities for spotting elk, moose, and other creatures. Many outdoor activities are still available, although some businesses may start to close for the off-season.
Winter (December to March): Winter transforms Jackson into a snowy wonderland, attracting skiers and snowboarders from around the globe. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a top destination for winter sports, offering excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions. Winter activities also include snowmobiling, sleigh rides, and ice skating.
