If you’re anything like me, you love to buy gifts for the special people in your lives but can never think of just what to buy. The good news is there are a ton of gifts amazing for any travel lover in your life- you just have to know where to look. Luckily for you, all you have to do is look right here for the perfect list!
50 States Photo Map
This state photo map was the one of the first things I bought when we moved into our house last year. Even though we have both been to many states separately, we decided to put pictures in our map of the states that we have been to together. I love that it’s a visual reminder of all the fun memories we’ve had on our goal to visit all 50 states.
I like this map in particular because the quality of materials are great. We were able to pick the background color (ours is “driftwood”) and the frame color (black). It also comes with a program that will format your pictures into the correct state shape and size which is game changing. I can testify that it is 1000000% worth every penny.
World Bucket List Scratch Off
Clearly I’m a sucker for scratching things off my list. I have this scratch off poster and I love it! I love the different colors- it’s very visually appealing. I’m not ashamed to admit that I want to plan trips just so I can scratch off another circle. Once again we decided to only scratch off the places we have been to together! This poster is the perfect gift for the world traveler. Who knows, maybe you might even inspire them to take you on a trip with them!
Luggage Tag
I know I’m totally guilty of using the generic airline luggage tags until they’re beat up and falling off. If you’ve noticed your family or friends doing the same, it might be time to pick them up a stylish and much more durable luggage tag. I love these luggage tags because they really stand out!
Carry On Cocktail Kit
Ok. Take my money. Sam and I have been known to enjoy a cocktail or two. We often shell out the money to indulge in some in-air beverages on our way to start our vaca. Now I’m not going to turn down a vodka cranberry per se, but if you offer me a Moscow mule? Hell yeah that’s what I’m talking about! These carry on cocktail kits are TSA compliant and include everything you need to make your cocktail- just add the alcohol! They also come in several varieties including Old Fashioned, Champagne Cocktail and Gin and Tonic.
Travel Journal
I feel lucky as a travel blogger because my blog is a way for me to document all of my travel adventures. Before my blog, I often kept a journal with me on trips to keep track of anything important, hilarious or hilariously important. For instance, one of the best journals I kept is when my best friend and I went to Paris (when her passport got stolen). It is SO FUNNY. Seriously, I go back now and laugh hysterically at all the ridiculous things that happened to us on that trip.
I like this journal because it’s sturdy enough to hold up on all of your travels while still being pretty.
Travel Passport Wallet
Ok, I think we’re all guilty of this. We roll into airport security with our IDs ready, only to just stash them somewhere in our bags trying to hurry through the metal detectors. I do this every single trip and then panic when I can’t find my passport later. AKA I (and everyone else) needs this travel passport wallet. I like that it has a place to store cash and cards as well, keeping everything you need in one place.
Travel Backpack
I don’t know about you but I love using backpacks as carry on bags. There is an ease of carrying them around airports and having my hands available. I particularly like this backpack because it comes with a built in USB travel port. This is handy when I’m out and about exploring and realize that my phone is about to die. It’s also nice to not have to take up space with my portable USB charger.
Travel Pillow
I’m going to get right to the point here…this travel pillow is awesome. So awesome that I already recommended it on another post and here I am doing it again. My parents, Sam and I all bought these for our recent trip to Italy and they did not disappoint. The flexibility on these things are perfect. I was able to get comfortable no matter how I was sitting on the plane. I think they would be great for car and train travel as well.
Filtering Water Bottle
Let’s face it, at one time or another we’ve all been there. We’re thirsty but are we really thaaat thirsty to drink out of the sketchy public water fountain? Problem solved. This water bottle filters out 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria and 99.9% of waterborne protozoan parasites. This is great for camping, hiking and yes, sketchy public water fountains.
Kindle Paperwhite
It’s no secret that Kindles are awesome for travelers. I love the Kindle Paperwhite because it has a long battery life and a no glare screen- perfect for reading outside in the sun. It’s now waterproof (!!!) so I don’t need to feel nervous about reading by the pool.
Noise Canceling Headphones
Ok, if you ask anyone who’s ever been on a flight with a screaming baby what they want the answer will be “just stop that noise”. Enter noise canceling headphones. Not only can you block out all the annoying travel noises but you can create noise you actually want to listen to by listening to your own music.
Travel Themed Book
As an avid reader, I can’t get enough of travel books. Books not only give me a glimpse of the world but also useful information about what to do when I get there. I love travel books like these that are full of ideas to help me plan my next trip.
Door Stop Alarm
Anyone who travels knows safety is not to be taken lightly. These door stop alarms are great because you can wedge them behind the door when you’re in your room. If anyone tries to open the door, it will be stopped by the wedge and a loud alarm will go off.
Cork Globe
If you haven’t already figured it out, I love to display the places I’ve traveled. Doing so is not only a great conversation starter but reminds me of my favorite travels all the time. This cork globe makes an awesome gift for a travel lover because it’s not too large and has a subtle design- perfect for displaying in any home.
GoPro
A GoPro has been on my “to buy” list forever and a day. I haven’t really been able to justify buying one for myself just yet because I just invested in a fancy new camcorder and camera (but I will totally accept one as a gift for anyone who wants to buy me one! hehe). I actually almost bought Sam one for Christmas but I thought maybe it was a little selfish of me to buy him a gift just so I could use it *shoulder shrug*. I’m about to pull the trigger, however, since Sam and I just found out we will be going to Thailand soon! I know the waterproof aspect of the GoPro will give me perfect shots of that beautiful, blue Thai water.
Camera Tripod
Unless you’re really careful, it’s easy to come back from a trip and realize that you’re not in any of the pictures. I’m extra guilty of this because I really don’t love to have my picture taken. There will be no more excuses from any one that gets this camera tripod as a gift. This tripod has great reviews for flexibility and durability.
Portable Hammock
Some of my favorite travel memories involve lying in a hammock in between two palm trees, listening to the sound of waves crashing onto the beach. With this portable hammock, any travel lover can have this experience anywhere they want! This particularly makes a great travel gifts for outdoor lovers and campers.
Travel-Sized Face Refresher
I’m sure anyone who’s traveled on an airplane can relate to dry, recycled plane air. Keep your travel lover’s skin soft and glowing with some hydrating face spray! I love to keep a TSA-friendly size spray in my carry on. On long flights I mist several times for refreshing, facial hydration. It’s also great for after you’ve landed to quickly give your skin a little glow.
Attachments for Camera Phone
When it comes to taking pictures, sometimes I just don’t feel like lugging my big camera around. For those days, I like to bring my lens attachments for my cell phone. I just bought this particular lens set and I love it because it comes with both a wide angle lens and a micro lens. You would be surprised at the quality of photos cell phones nowadays provide- I’ve gotten pictures on my iPhone that are every bit as good as photos from my camera.
Airplane Footrest
Ok, I’m just as surprised as you are that this contraption made another one of my blog lists. This airplane footrest gets such great reviews that I just can’t get it off my mind. This footrest is a great gift for any traveler with a long-haul flight on the horizon. Being able to prop up your legs a little bit is a game changer for comfort and also helps prevent blood clots!
So what am I forgetting? Make sure you comment below what you would love to get as a gift!
